[MR] In search of research for sailing garb documentation

Dear Good Gentles, I am in need of assistance.

I search for resources (visual, descriptive, etc.) for the period northern 
British Isles wear for sailing.  How they layered it, was it a special 
weave, etc.  I know they used Linen and there's proof they used skin boats 
as well.  However, it doesn't explain how they kept warm during cold rains, 
etc on the sea.  There's much documentation for the Viking era so I implore 
that you direct me to other paths.

So far I've been given leads to Sutton hoo and St. Brendan and am still 
looking for more.
