Greetings to all Atlantia!

I am Lady Livia Zanna, Scrivener Royal to their Majesties and Highnesses of
Atlantia. Their Highnesses have expressed a desire to bestow genuine
scrolls upon the populace whenever possible, and to that end, I will be
sponsoring a Scroll Blank Competition at Coronation, Labor Day Weekend.

The scoring will be per individual piece, weighted towards artistic merit
and historical accuracy, but cumulatively additive per entrant. This means
that if Entrant A submits 3 very poor quality pieces, done in an hour in
Crayon, and entrant B submits one, extremely well done, completely
documentable piece, entrant B has an equal or better chance at winning,
depending upon how both are scored.

My aim and purpose is to encourage research and artistic skill, as opposed
to haste. Pre-generated promissories are not appropriate or valid for this
competition.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

***Scroll blank entries do NOT need to have the text calligraphied upon
them, though extra points will be given for those with it. Teams of two
people (one calligrapher / one illuminator) may enter as a single entrant
for scoring purposes if there is a clear delineation of skills. (This means
that if 2 people are both doing calligraphy and illumination, they can not
enter together to increase the cumulative scoring.)

***All Scroll blank entries MUST have the heraldrically correct badge, and
text conforming to Atlantian Standards as found in the Scribal handbook.
(If you have any questions about this, please feel free to email either
myself, or the Clerk Signet) Artistically colored black pearls, or purple
coral branches will lose points.

***Documentation IS important, though not required, and it does not need to
be excessive, for the purposes of this competition. A picture of your
source material (if any), your artistic media, a quick synopsis of your
method, and reasoning for your artistic decisions during creation will
suffice. You will not be judged on the quality of your documention. But it
will be used to determine your level of research as regards your finished
product.

***Blanks should not have the K&Q's name, the Date, or the Recipient's Name
/ Gender. Please leave appropriate space for these.

***After the competition, all pieces will become the property of their
Majesties Atlantia. I will have a digital camera on-site to take pictures
of all the entries.

I heartily encourage ALL scribes, of all levels (especially Novices!), to
enter this competition! You both serve your kingdom, and your fellow
Atlantians with your art, and I greatly look forward to seeing you there.
If you have any questions regarding the rules or judging guidelines, PLEASE,
please feel free to email or call me with your concerns, and I will do my
best to clarify. There will be multiple prizes.

Please crosspost this to all lists, especially the scriptoriums.

In Service to the Kingdom,
Lady Livia Zanna,
Scrivener Royal.
