Which was the entire point of using the term... you see, in the early days 
of the SCA, when you won Crown Tourney, you didn't just get to be King: 
you also had to run the next event!

As things got more complicated, the Crown got into the habit of delegating 
authority over the event to someone else, who had complete responsibility 
for, and control over, the operations for the event. Because of the 
totality of said responsibility and authority, the term "autocrat" was 
used.

(And yes, as far as operations for an event are concerned, the autocrat 
is the boss. If someone causes enough problems on site, it doesn't matter 
who they are; the autocrat has the authority to deal with the problem, 
using whatever means necessary.)
