I've stayed in Butler (at the Days Inn or Fairfield, can't remember) for 2
Pennsics. The drive wasn't bad at all. They are used to people in costume.
The local Laundrymat had a sign up one year that said "Butler Welcomes
Pennsic".
The downside is definitely walking up the hill in the dark exhausted.
I would also second the notion of setting up a tent onsite. I sort of felt
homeless without one. It would have been nice to have my own little tent
(and cot) to collapse upon in the heat of the day without having to barge in
on other folk.
