I'm all for it. Problem is, we have decades of tradition working against it.
 
I undertand that the term started when the entry to an early event was placed under a bridge. According to folklore, trolls dwell  under bridges, and so . . . 
 
And I don't doubt that the assonance wtih Toll was a factor also. 
 
I certainly endorse the use of more period-based terms, such as "feast cook" rather than tacking "-crat" on the job areas. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing the head of an event called something like steward rather than autocrat.
