Hello to all from the Autocrat to all who are planning on attending Danelaw: Market Day at Jorvik!

Given these times of economic uncertainty in the world of oil and gasoline prices, be aware that the price of gasoline will go up Oct. 1 when the Georgia state sales tax will again apply to gasoline purchases.

With that in mind, and being on the lookout for less expensive gas, you may want to top off your tank Friday evening before reaching the site.

I am not familiar with the I-20 exit to the site, but I know gasoline prices are competitive at the following I-20 exits: Thompson/Washington, GA from points east, Madison/Athens, GA from points west on I-20. There is a relatively new Racetrac station several blocks north at the Madison exit that usually has the best prices, there is a station (I think it may be either a Citgo or Racetrac) just south of the Thompson/Washington exit that historically has good prices.

If you are traveling from I-85, you will want to top off before you leave the interstate area, especially if you are traveling at night. I do not know what prices are like in the small towns along the way, plus be aware that you will be traveling in areas where stations may close earlier than those on the interstate. Elberton may
be a good place to gas up, but I have no recommendations as to where.

I hope this information is helpful, and I look forward to seeing all of you at Danelaw: Market Day at Jorvik!
