The following is part of a message from the president of Coastal Carolina
University in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with what I believe may be a unique
offer. (This is in addition to numerous other efforts to raise money for
hurricane survivors.)
..Coastal Carolina University will welcome the enrollment of
college students who have been displaced by Katrina. Each situation will be
handled on a case-by-case basis. I ask the full cooperation of the campus
community in accommodating these students. If you know of any students in
this situation, please have them contact the Office of Admissions...
My understanding of this is that we are welcoming students from colleges that
have been closed because of the hurricane damage. I'm not sure if it's
intended as a stopgap measure so that they don't have to sacrifice an entire
semester before they can resume study at their own college, or if they are
welcome to transfer for the duration of their college work. I have no idea
specifically how it will work, but I'm passing it on to my SCA family, in case
they know of anyone who might benefit.
The number of the Admissions Office is 843-349-2026.
If anyone cares to see the entire message for any reason, please contact me
off-list, and I will be happy to send it on to you.
Take care everybody -
Lina (still in teacher ed after all these years) StAlbans
