She may have mentioned it was possibly a fluke, but the intent of the
message ('Buyer Beware') implies that there is something possibly fishy with
this particular merchant.
If it were a case of 'I contacted the merchant, and didn't get satisfaction,
so I am filing a claim with my credit card company', that is one thing.
Even if it is just a matter of filing a claim with the credit card company,
that is no reason to bring the issue immediately to public attention--or at
least not to name the merchant by name. A message can be sent out that says
'I just noticed that a merchant at Pennsic overcharged my credit card
$2300.00--you may want to make sure to check your statements, as well.'
This puts people on the alert (even people who may have bought from this
merchant), but doesn't bring them into it. Therefore, if it was simply an
error (for instance, a $23.00 book, perhaps, where the decimal did not get
properly entered into the machine?) then no unjust doubt is put upon the
merchant in a public forum.
Just my thoughts on what to do.
-Ii, returning to lurk mode.
