My dad is famous for still driving his bike to the
university during everything but rain but that's
Lexington KY where there's lots of sidewalks and some
bike lanes, etc.

I've also heard that we have 20 days of gas under
ground so I'll doubt we'll ever have complete facts on
that. In discussing it with my boss I don't think
Easley is helping. Often in a crisis when making an
uncomfortable announcement you want to do what you can
to calm fears. I don't see much in his announcement
that helps to alleviate fears - just "there's a
crisis".

Whether the crisis is true or not the prices are real
and getting worse. Whether or not the expense of the
trip is wise or not decides my attendance at events. I
doubt I have serious worries about getting stranted
but it is something I think about. "Is that the best
use of my SCA funds?" is what I think about more even
though so many people I love dearly are involved with
this event.

There are more storms but the difference in this is
the volume of devastation all at once and the
helplessness we feel and that sending money doesn't
ever feel enough. I'll do what I can to volunteer too
if my finances and personal ethics allow for gas
expenses.

For me, I intend to go to work earlier than normal and
leave work earlier than normal just so I don't have to
waste my money in rush hour traffic. Not everybody
has that luxury.

I think that people are hoping to think more about
what they have besides money. Some have a lot of cash
to give and some don't... My personal interest is to
send money to those organizations already set up to
handle this sort of crisis rather than create another
one.

It is just one storm and I agree we shouldn't lose
sight of other issues. But it still takes time for
people to work through the subject and what they want
to do about it. Discussing options is always good. I
for one have a need to help all sets of victims when I
can local and non local. To each his own.

In friendship...

Rebecca
