If you are at an event and are unsure if and where help is needed then by all
means contact the Autocrat or any of the event staff. Most of them will have a
good idea of what is needed or who to point you to.

If nothing else, most events need someone to wash dishes, sweep and mop
floors, clean bathrooms(some sites) and in general pick up trash.

One thing I have noticed, and by no means is this a gripe, is that some folks
feel they need to ask permission to help and do not know who to go to.
Frankly, alot of helping can be done without asking permission. Pick up any
stray trash you see. Clean up in the bathroom when you see it is a mess. Stay
late and fold chairs and tables when necessary. As someone who has Autocratted
events I can tell you any help like that is GREATLY appreciated by the event
staff. (I personally have just wandered into an event kitchen and just asked
what they needed. Someone always pointed to something to do. Even ended up at
one event cooking the dessert course when the cook went home sick and
organized the plating of the meal at that event)

Just my two cents.. YMMV
