Gentles all:
I know that the Barony of Marinus has many active, retired, and
former
members of our modern armed forces, and rather suspect that the same is
true of the Merry Rose. On that assumption, please be advised:
FYI:
Golden Corral is giving back to past and former military!

[Bill Mauldin] If I might have a bit of bandwidth to expound. This is an
annual event that the restaurant holds. It is important to me in another way
also. This is a major fundraising drive for the Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to the money the group collects Golden Corral also pitches in
thousands of dollars. This is purely charity with NO money ever going to
overhead that was not raised specifically for that purpose. I am a member of
the North Carolina Chapter 61. We have to use medical facilities that are at
least 45 miles away from where we live. To see a specialist the trip turns
into either 80 or 110 miles each way. Many disabled vets can not drive at
all. The DAV and its auxiliary go together with Ford Motor company and buy
vans and volunteer drivers to get other vets to their medical care. We have
to maintain the vehicles and pay for gas. If you are in the area of the
restaurant, give the guys a hello (or thank you if you wish) and help with a
truly significant cause. For more information go to my unit's web site
http://www.ncdav61.org.
