this assumes that the purpose of any event is just the
fighting. even if we were rained out completely, there
would be fun to be had. i do not remember any fighting
at all (bar the occasional snowball) at 12th Night in
Jan 1996, but the fun never seemed to stop. it is sad
that our Crowns have not yet contrived to get us
snowed in at an event in nearly 10 years. 

it is possible to make new friends and have a good
time at an event without first bashing them over the
head with a stick. there will always be another
fighting event. today, however, will be gone forever
by tomorrow.
