I highly agree with you about autocratting and hosting events ... I have 
done so a few times, and my Barony regularly hosts 3 standard events a 
year, as well as potentially others that might come up.

However, the point in this case, is this ...

I would not want Highland Foorde to host Unevent.  Unevent is an event 
that the entire Kingdom (essentially) NEEDS to attend.  I'm the Kingdom 
Target Archery Marshal.  I want every single one of my archery marshals 
there.

Having it in any 'corner or edge' of the Kingdom, does not serve the 
Kingdom well in my opinion.  Now granted, having it somewhere is better 
than nowhere :)

I don't think that I would be any happier at all, at Highland Foorde 
hosting it.

While my drive would be short, I would be guaranteed to not see my 
southern marshals.

(This doesn't mention the fact that to submit a Kingdom bid, one 
essentially needs to all footwork for a regular event that they would 
host, including procuring a site, assembling staff, preparing a budget, 
etc.   Without any guarantee of having the bid accepted.  While I agree 
that this is a worthy cause to pursue for an event that your group 
wishes to run.   I would submit that this is not a worthy amount of time 
to spend, on an event that you would be hoping that your own group would 
not receive, and were only submitting as a 'backup' in case noone else 
had.   Hence the mention that a webpage stating which events were 
without bids completely, could be worthwhile)
