Out of curiosity, what's the reason for maintaining the funds outside the
SCA exchequer controls? In what way will this benefit the Atlantian
Cavalry?
I usually don't mind putting money in a jar that will go directly to some
charity, outside of SCA controls, but this sounds like a fund that will
somehow stick around for a while. Whose check book will it be living in?
Anne.

The Friends of the Cavalry group was created specifically to handle private
fund-raising efforts for the Kingdom of Atlantia Cavalry. All funds raised
will be managed privately and will not be under SCA controls. Please be
assured that 100% of all funds raised by the Friends of the Cavalry will
directly benefit the Atlantian Cavalry.
Our next item for auction, to benefit the Atlantian Cavalry, is a stunning
Italian Renaissance gown, with chemise, coin purse and carry bag.
For pictures of the gown, see Auction Item #3, in the Photos section of the
Friends of the Cavalry group site.

This beautiful gown, of Midnight Blue satin with a bodice of dusty blue
damask, hovers between a size 8 and a size 10. It hasn't been hemmed, of
course, permitting you to make your own adjustments in that area. The tie-on
sleeves are cuffed with the same delicate damask as the bodice, creating a
look of unification in the garment. The neckline is square, and the gown
laces up the front. Lovely gold-colored metal beads adorn the ends of the
sleeve ties. A coin purse of generous size accompanies the gown, and bears
its own wealth along its edges. The simple chemise is also square-necked,
and delicately trimmed at the opening.
We apologize for what seems to be, in the photographs, a mis-match at the
bodice opening. This resulted from pinning the gown to a mannikin to take
photos. We guarantee that the two sides of the bodice are exactly the same
size, and match each other perfectly. The fabric carry bag is sized to the
gown, and will permit its travel to and from events, with a minimum of
wrinkling (although we are told that wrinkles are period!), will keep the
gown clean during its journey, and will occupy marginal space in your travel
vehicle. As with any fine garment, this gown is Dry Clean Only, for safe
care.
For all who plan to attend the Nottinghill Coill Baronial Birthday
celebration, this coming weekend, October 21-23, the gown will be on display
in the A&S area.
