[MR] What's the differenece between a column and line in a battle?

In the simplest terms, the difference is which side of the rectangle is
advancing toward the enemy. For example: A formation of 2 fighters
wide by 10
fighters long is a column IF the 2 fighter side is advancing at the
enemy, that
same 10x2 formation is a line if the 10 fighter side is advancing at
the enemy.
