Please pass this on throughout the lands:
  The Caer Maer and Marinus Scriptorium are hosting a Novice Scribes
Tournament at Kingdom 12th Night:

Although it would be fun to have a paint fight with loaded brush and we have
the Baroness of a certain barony saying she will take anyone on for blind
calligraphy contest here is what we we will really be running:
 Organizer: Lord Tristan de Braisesford
Sponsors: Members of the Marinus and Caer Maer Scriptorium

Rules:
*An entrant does not have to be a scribe of less than a year of experience
as most Novice Scribes Tourneys.
*An entrant just made their first attempt at their submitted piece's style
less than a year before the 12th Night.
*An entrant cannot be a member of an A&S merit order at the Kingdom level or
be a peer of the Laurel.
*Entry can be a Baronial or Kingdom Level Blank
 Adherence to the above rules will be based on the honor system. Offenders
may be ink and quill-ed afterwards.

Judgement of pieces:
*Craftsmanship including flawlessness, matching of colors, design and forms
to period example(s), precision, and care.
*Innovation of techniques used in piece AND outlined in documentation.
*Rarity of the style or twist on a well used one in the kingdom.
*The use of materials period or un-period will not be considered unless
their use is inaccurately portrayed in documentation.(you lose points)
*Accuracy and depth (without fluff) of Documentation on how the piece
parallels period practices as well as how it diverts from period practices.
*There is a seven page limit at least 10 pt font set on documentation
including pictures to make sure the competition can be judged in an
efficient manner. Binders for documentation will not be allowed to be
included in the competition but will be happily displayed. Relevant
documentation should be pre-organized for the competition.
 Judges: We are looking for judges. All members of Merit based Kingdom
Orders and Peers of the Laurel are invited to judge. Contact
joshua.r.thomas at gmail.com to RSVP. All judges will receive the thanks of the
sponsoring scriptoriums and a 12th night gift.

Prize(s):
Grand Prize: The complete Book of Kells Facsimile on CD Rom (Donated by Lord
Tristan de Brailesford)
Honorable Mentions: Decided on number of competitors and our sponsors. The
populace is also encouraged to come with prizes/tokens of their own to
inspire the scribes of Atlantia. Paper and styluses will be available to
laud, critique, and leave pointers for all entrants.
Participant Prizes: Each entering scribe will receive a few tools of the
trade for entering.
