I dropped in this morning. I was the first person in the door (and the only one waiting) when the Sackler opened, and had the Fountains of Light exhibit just about to myself for more than an hour. Some dozens of artifacts with good notes on the wall and whatnot. Very beautiful stuff (hey--I don't know from metalwork, sorry). Very worth the trip, though I can get there without changing Metro trains.
I did not visit the Imperial Costumes exhibit, not being so very into the fabric arts, but what little I saw in passing was quite stunning also.

FYI, it's the Sackler and FREER (not Greer) Galleries. They are located
on the South side of the National Mall
I believe their hours are 10-5:30 daily, so people could go by for a
look see on Sunday too!
