It's not that Reply-To is considered harmful, it's the overwriting of
the Reply-To header by the mailing list software if an individual has
a Reply-To set in their mail header that is considered "bad", which is
what would be the case if everything defaulted to sending to the list.
For me, about 50% of the lists I read (mostly on Yahoo) default to the
list, and the rest defautl to the original sender (mostly these lists
are using Mailman or Yahoo specifically configured not to default to
the list). There's no standard way of doing it.
Of such things are Internet Holy Wars born.
