I would like to point out that there have been people who have SENT private
messages EXPECTING them to be private and they have still been sent to the
entire list.

I would also like to point out that there are folks who are NOT
email-literate enough to discriminate between the entire list and the
individual sender.

Taking the above two points into account, I would then like to point out
that there have been posts that have not only been sent erroneously but have
caused true harm to someone by their words being posted (and not always in
full context).

Yes, it's inconvenient, but it's not that hard to type
atlantia at atlantia.sca.org into the subject line.  It is sometimes harder
(for the email-not-so-literate who aren't using user-friendly email
programs) to figure out who the sender is.
