[MR] Sapphire Joust Class: Shameless Plug

Greetings,

I will be teaching a class on the Jane Bostocke
Sampler at Sapphire Joust on Sunday, May 29 from 10:30
a.m. to 12:30. http://geocities.com/sapphirejoust/

This sampler, dated 1598, is the earliest dated
surviving sampler and currently resides in the V&A
museum. The class will discuss the history, heraldry,
motifs, materials, and stitches in the Bostocke
sampler. We will practice some of the more difficult
stitches and begin stitching one of the motifs. The
cost of the class is $10 and includes handout w/ color
pictures, stitch guides, linen fabric, needle, and a
skein of silk thread. The class is limited to 12
students. Please bring scissors and other embroidery
supplies that you like to use. Hoops can be borrowed
from me.
