Speaking of heraldry, I hate to be dense, but I have a tincture question.

In SCA practice, is it legal to have a field divided into two colors?

I ask because Lord Kyl's on-line device generator, discussed previously,
will only allow a field division between a color and a metal.  For example,
if you select "per fess azure and..." it only offers you "argent" and "or"
for your other half of the field.

I thought the rules forbade color ON color, not color BESIDE color.
Checking the O&A, I see that many bi-color field divisions are already
registered, including some recent ones.

Color me curious,
