The Mysterious Bog People
July 9, 2005 - January 23, 2006
The Mysterious Bog People is the first-ever international touring exhibit to
explore 10,000 years of rituals and sacrifice in northwestern Europe. It
features seven bog mummies and over 400 artifacts that have never been
displayed in the United States. The Mysterious Bog People is the first time
so many bog mummies and offerings have been brought together, providing
valuable insight into the practices of ancient Europeans.
Carnegie Museum of Natural History will be the first and only museum in the
eastern United States to exhibit The Mysterious Bog People. Among the
exhibit's most extraordinary artifacts are the bog mummies. The ancient
human remains in The Mysterious Bog People exhibit provide museum visitors a
rare opportunity to stand face-to-face with people who lived thousands of
years ago.
