I have to say that my humble opinion is to agree with Herveus; I believe there could be unintended consequences.
While I'm all for more heraldry and more period-looking events, etc. I don't think some things like names and heraldry should be rushed, but done right and chosen/designed carefully if gentles wish to do so. I was rushed into choosing a name (though thankfully am happy enough with it, I would've chosen differently and more carefully if I hadn't been rushed). I was able to put much more time and attention into my heraldry and am, as a consequence, very happy with it and it is very period in design. And, by not rushing, I had time to learn a lot about heraldry.
Not everybody in the SCA can or wants to do everything the SCA offers. We can't all sew, nor do we all have an interest in heraldry. While I applaud the intent, again, I must say that it may go awry in the execution.
