If anyone reading  this message is not planning on attending Crown this 
coming weekend, but still  want to be able to come out and "play" SCA, the Canton 
of Ritterwald will be  holding a demo/information table at a local festival.

Date: Saturday, April 2
 
Time: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
 
Location: Downtown Denmark, SC (directions at  end of message)
 
Event  Specifics: The Denmark Dogwood Festival is an annual event.  While it 
is a small event, it is big for our small town. In addition  to our 
information table, there will be other vendors, amusement rides, music,  entertainment, 
and food booths aplenty.
 
The Canton of  Ritterwald booth will consist of informational brochures about 
the SCA, a  variety of books for visitors to look at, a feast table set up 
for display,  and authentic Norwegian Syrup Cookies to hand out (free). We ask 
participants  to please come in garb, a day shade will be up to protect from 
sun, rain,  and/or wind (no telling what the Gods and Mother Nature will dish 
out that  day!).
 
The Festival  organizers would LOVE to see some heavy fighting, but we cannot 
do that unless  there are two fighters willing to go to battle AND there is a 
Marshall  present. Unfortunately, Ritterwald does not have any heavy fighters 
available  that day. So, if you feel so inclined, we'd LOVE for you to come 
prepared  to show off!
 
Odin's Fjord will be  open for visitors (there is a cat) both the night 
before (Friday) and after  the event. However, if you come on Saturday, Highway 
321/Carolina Highway  will be roadblocked between the Barnwell Highway and 
Heritage Highway  after 8:00 am. You are encouraged to park at Odin's Fjord or a 
neighboring  street and walk the short distance (approx. 3 blocks). If we know in 
advance  you are coming, we will be sure to have chairs on which to rest your 
 tired bones.
 
While the Dogwood  Festival is a dry event, Odin's Fjord is not, and after 
the  event everyone is invited back to the house. The grill will be  hot and 
Lord Eirikr will be ready to grill whatever you bring.  (Unfortunately, while we 
would love to be the gracious host & hostess,  recent events preclude us 
sponsoring everything this time), so please plan on  bringing your choice of meat 
for the grill and choice of beverage).   Overnight guests are, again, welcome.
 
Please come and  support the Canton of Ritterwald if you are not going to 
Crown.
