Atlantia Crown Tournament XLIX
May 6-8, 2005
Barony of Bright Hills – Street, MD

Sound the horn call. Summon Atlantia’s heroes.
Bid them come to Bright Hills, to contend for the
Crown.

To host spring crown tournament, the Barony of Bright
Hills throws open the gates of Camp Spencer at Broad
Creek Memorial Scout Reservation, offering spectacular
combat on verdant meadows amidst a cool forest, and a
feast from the hands of the renowned Bright Hills
Cooks Guild.

A&S activities: The following contests are offered:

*Tempore Atlantia competition for Pre-1000 entries.
For more information, go to:
http://moas.atlantia.sca.org/tempore.htm

*Best Example of Carving in Bone, Antler or Horn.
Documentation is required.
Sponsored by Lady Martelle Von Charlottenburg. For
more information, contact Lady Martelle at
mrfletcher21133 at yahoo.com

*Knitting Competition "How Low Can You Go?" A
twisted little competition sponsored by Baroness Rowen
Berran McDowell. Knit a 4" x 4" square in the smallest
thread/yarn on the smallest gauge needles YOU can.
Period materials are NOT required but a small display
including a sample of thread and the needles used is
required. The winner will have knit the most stitches
in the measured area.

*Scrivener Royal competition. A completed scroll is
the only qualification for entry. Scrolls can either
be from Baronial awards or Kingdom, though it would be
preferred that they be for a kingdom award. Scroll
blanks are also welcome. Documentation is welcome, but
not necessary. If you have any questions, please
contact Lady Metylda the Cunning at
bnearly at verizon.net. If your scroll is based on a
specific period piece, you might wish to include a
copy of the original.

*Best use of a crown or coronet in any medium.
Documentation of the medium required. Sponsored by
Lady Roana de Laci (who can be contacted at
ladyro at comcast.net).

*Open display for artisans to exhibit complete works,
and works in progress.

FEAST for 200 will be prepared by the Bright Hills
Cooks Guild. (Get your reservations in early!) Those
with dietary restrictions due to health issues,
religious practices or other concerns (e.g. vegans,
etc.) who wish special accommodations should contact
the head cook by April 30. Call Lady Maeve FitzRobert
at 410-638-7798 (NLT 9 p.m.). Special accommodations
for vegetarians or special diets must be arranged in
advance

Other meals: Friday evening the Bright Hills Cooks
Guild will sell traveler’s fare for a modest fee.
Lunch: A variety of lunch food will be available for
sale from the Bright Hills archers and The Worshipful
Company of St. Matthias at the feast pavillion, which
is just a short walk from the list field.

Merchants are most welcome, but please coordinate with
Lady Reyne Telarius at 410-676-5795 (NLT 9 p.m.) or
email to reyne_telarius at hotmail.com.

Other shopping: The event will feature a silent
auction to benefit the Kingdom travel fund and the
barony, coordinated jointly by Lady Olwen the Odd and
the Worshipful Company of St Matthias. There are plans
for a special market for children seeking gifts for
Mother’s Day. For more information, contact Lady Olwen
the Odd at olwentheodd at hotmail.com or Lady Roana de
Laci at ladyro at comcast.net

Important note: the site layout has been modified to
be more compact and more convenient for everyone. Now,
the merchants, the A&S competitions, camping, and the
feast hall are all but a few steps from the list
field. The area immediately around the list field will
be restricted to day shades and open pavilions for
general seating only.

Camping: There is extensive space for camping (at no
extra charge) under the trees behind Merchant’s Row
and which is just steps from the list field, or in the
grove between the feast hall and the shower house.
Both locations offer water spigots, latrines and
hand-washing stations. Vehicles will be permitted at
campsites for loading and unloading only.

On site indoor bunk bed spaces are still available for
an additional fee of $15 each.

Also included in the site fee is access to the shower
house offering 15+ showers with unlimited hot water,
multiple flush toilets, and power outlets (hair
dryers, etc.).

If your household, shire, or similar group would like
a private camping area, additional campsites, also
with latrines and water spigots, can be reserved for
an additional $30 charge.

Other choices: There are several hotels within 20
miles of the site in nearby Bel Air or Aberdeen, and
we hope to negotiate a special rate for the event.
