Please  explain "best meal" and "best household item in any medium".

Well, cook up your best post-Roman and pre-1000 meal, i.e. an Anglo-Saxon  
meal or a Viking meal or a Merovingian meal, all of which we have documentation  
for.
 
As for a "household item in any medium", think about what a well-appointed  
post-Roman and pre-1000 household would have had, i.e. lighting fixtures of  
various sorts (there was a TI article on lighting a Viking home, for example) or 
 baskets or ceramic items or furniture, etc.  Again, there is loads of  
documentable items from archaeological digs.  (You are welcome to come by  the 
house and peruse our books for ideas, if you'd like.)
