I haven't seen my reply post on the list so you may have already read this,
but the holes _DON'T LEAK_.  I know that's not logical, but it's our
experience after years of owning such a tent. Whether or not the holes are
inside your support poles or outside of them, we have had no water appearing
inside the tent nor blowing on someone's head as they stand next to the door
opening. 

Honest.

If you're still nervous about it, I suggest setting the tent up and getting
someone to spray a hose over the top - or I can get you commentary from the
8 or 9 other wall tent owners in our Pennsic encampment who can reassure you
that they've had no problems with water inside their tents during storms.
