It seems that the liver agitated Asahito has changed the requirements for his payment....now it just a "woman" and not a virgin....he must be getting desperate..

And, as regards the cooking competition....well, due credit was not given by the supposedly "civilized" Mongol since it was indeed myself who came up with the concept so that the invader might try to vainly show himself to be superior....but...I do heartily recommend having a food taster when attempting to partake of his "offering"

Subject: [MR] Foulest Deceptions

Greetings unto the known world
>From the most humble AshaHito

As some might be aware, We the civilized folk of Caer Mear have had
some modest misunderstandings with the newest nobility of these lands. While
we do try and keep civil unpleasantness under wraps , some small inklings of
the troubles have unfortunately slipped out. In my greatest desires for
peace I have been as cooperative and understanding of the illiteracy and
general lack of understanding of proper political and social protocols as is
possible in regards to the excellent offices of the kings hand in our lands.
At Viking Thyng I was jested and made light of, but I forgave based on my
superior nature. At Sapphire Joustings , no word of apology or news of the
due payment of tribute or recompense for immense services was forthcoming.
But I held out faith that rightness and good grace would win out in the end.
In fact it seems that fate and karma have conspired to teach me lessons that
are, at present, beyond my capabilities.
Just this past restday, I was summoned to the manor of our baroness,
for conference. I will have to say that I held out great hope for a final
settlement of the modest amount due unto the civilized and educated of the
Barony. Given that noble women of your lands are often educated in the finer
arts than is often the case with men, it seemed reasonable that the great
lady would arrange some settlement quietly and in a less than public fashion
so that the drooling males could save some face without the specter of war
and its attendant ills afflicting our adopted homelands. I was asked to
speak to the children, a surprisingly largish crowd, about armor and combat.
Great fun it was, and I suspected nothing untoward, since combat is not in
the life of young lads and even the young lasses that did harken to the
discussion. Later, I was asked to speak with others about foods and
provisions, a very civilized study. At the end of the day I expected a
private exchange to settle things since I had done all that I had been
asked.
But I was summarily dismissed. Not only was there no talk of
settlement but it seems the Barony would arm their children to fight for
them. As such we have no alternative but to meet such barbarism in kind. And
thus it does seem that on the 15th day of October will children line up on
each side of the field and do battle for their respective sides. Either the
barbarous Normans and their ilk, or the civilized and genteel visitors to
these lands ( Mongols, Saracens, Arabs and other easterners ). This will be
in the midst of other contests to put to rest the rude and impolite behavior
of the Normans, or Norsemen or whatever they would style themselves falsely
as being more than animals. Heavy fighters shall do battle in singles and
melees as will Light fighters in various permutations and forms. Archers
shall contest for all that is right and good among men and not Norman. There
will be contests of weapons throwing, and brewing and gaming and possibly
other arts and sciences. While the civilized folk shall enjoy the
hospitality for lunch of the Casa Per Vert y Or, as is only right; the nor
folk shall hold a pot luck luncheon also contested by the bringing of a
barbarous dish of nepharious origin (Scandinavian, Norman, early Russian,
Scots or Irish) or a edible civilized dish originating from a superior land
( N. Africa, Venetian or points East of there).
Please try and remember that the Barony offers their best word and
thanks for those that would align with them in their foulest behavior,
Whilst I on the other side will offer solid metal coins of great antiquity
from many lands, jewelry from around the lands of my travels and older than
the lands of the west. And since they wish to make a contest of the
provisionary, I will offer ancient and honored cooking vessels as prizes for
this other unseemly contest.
My liver revolts against the torment. I lay sleepless at night
crying for those that would die because the local noble obligation does not
include civil manners. The mind boggles that the nobility would wish to see
their peoples homes burned and their wives taken hostage and their children
sold into slavery all for the pittance of 2 goats a woman and a cask of
mead. So I shall summon all noble and civilized peoples of honor to help
teach these louts proper respect and improve the Norman's fields by soaking
them in their owners vital fluids. As is only just and proper recompense for
the insults they so jovially hurl.

The most regretful AshaHito
