Greetings All:

The Highland Foorde Chapter of the St. Anne's Clothiers Guild is hosting
a workshop, to be conducted by Lady Elspet on linen headdresses on 10
July 11:00 - 5:00 am. We have 4 spaces still available (although we can
accept some auditors as well). (Workshop is in Frederick Maryland).

The class will consist of a 1 hr slide overview of linen headdress types
in 14th and 15th Century Northern European art (slides with some
commentary from Elspet) and hands on. She will demonstrate some basic
linen head coverings that can be done with a minimum of supplies, two of
three pieces of linen. Tied coifs, turbans or head wraps, veil and
wimples construction, and the German wulste and unterhaube. It is
geared to those that are head dress challenged and those who hate
wearing stuff on their heads. She will not be doing any henins in this
class as it is about linen headcoverings. She will also have some
information on sewing techniques and foundations structure.

To fully participate in the workshop, you will need about 2 yards of
white fabric (a lightweight linen, about 3.5 oz) is preferred.

I will have a pot of chili or soup, with fresh bread and cheese
available for muchines. Folks have asked in the past if they could bring
anything, and you're more than welcome to bring something to share, but
please don't feel obligated.

Please reserve your space soonest, if you're interested.

DIRECTIONS to 8604 Slate Hill Circle, Frederick MD 21704 (301) 631-8111

FROM FREDERICK/HAGERSTOWN:

Take I-70 E, exit 56. Turn left onto 144. You'll pass the National

Guard Armory, cross over the Monocacy River. Next street on the right

is Bartonsville Road. Turn right onto Bartonsville Road. Go about the

length of a football field. You'll see the River Oaks neighborhood on

the right. Turn right. Take the second left (Slate Hill Place). This

is a very short street that ends in two cul-de-sacs. One on the left,

and one on the right. We're the second house on the left in the

cul-de-sac on the left. Feel free to park on the grass in the

 cul-de-sac.

FROM GAITHERSBURG/DC:

Directions from I-270 can get a little complex. There is a new

interchange onto I-70 E, coming down I-270. This interchange is so

New, it might not be reflected on Mapquest yet. Anyway, follow I-270

all the way to Frederick, where it ends. You will pass a mall on the

right. Just past the mall, I-270 splits. The far right line exits out

to I-70 E. Then follow the directions from above to exit 56, etc.

FROM BALTIMORE:

Take I-70 W. Get off at exit 59 onto 144. Curve to the right and merge
onto 144. Follow this through the light (Spring Ridge), then up the
hill. Note that 144 is split by a median. It merges at the top of the
hill. Once it merges, the next street at on the left is Bartonsville
Road. Turn left. Go about the length of a football field. You'll see the
River Oaks neighborhood on the right. Turn right. Take the second left
(Slate Hill Place). This is a very short street that ends in two
cul-de-sacs. One on the left, and one on the right. We're the second
house on the left in the cul-de-sac on the left. Feel free to park on
the grass in the cul-de-sac.

Thanks!

Alessandra
