Menu for Midsummer Twilight Tourney, June 17-19th, hosted by the Canton
of Buckston-on-Eno in The Barony of Windmasters’ Hill, at Farm Ventures,
363 Jerry Dixon Road, Leasburg, NC 27291
A sumptuous meal with limited seating, for the price of $6.00, to be
served from noon until 2 in the afternoon on Saturday June 18th,
inspired by the works of the playwright Shakespeare and our own societal
culture.
By various cooks from the Barony of Windmasters’ Hill: Mistress Clare
Hele, head cook, assisted by Mistress Clare de Crecy, Mistress Rosalind
Jehanne, Lady Beatrice Villani, Lady Irmgart Hasenshlaf, Lady Guenievre
de Monmarche, and Michael of ‘CFM’
To Begin: Onion Soup with Sops (V)
First Course:
Catalan mirrau, possibly known to others as Almond Chicken (M&N)
Cretonne of New Peas (V)
Tarte of Spinage (V)
Perys en Wyne (V)
A Salet of Fresh vegetables and fruit with a Mint Vingarette Dressing (V)
Second Course:
Cold Roast Beef (M) with Mustard (V)
A Sweet-Pickle of Red Cabbage (V)
Lentils (V)
To Finish:
Rice pudding (V)
Fresh Strawberries (V)
To Drink: Sekanjabin and Water (V&V)
*Notes (4):
1. (M) Indicates a meat dish that contains substantial portions of meat
flesh.
2. (V): Indicates non-meat dish but may contain eggs, milk, cream,
butter or other 'animal-products' or 'previously living organisms'
(e.g.- honey, yeast, etc.)
3. (N)- Indicates a dish that contains nuts (Note: Almonds are the only
nut used in this feast)
4. Any food allergies should contact the head cook, Clare Hele, with
specific questions or concerns.
** All loyal subjects of The Barony are encouraged to attend as Their
Excellencies of Windmasters’ Hill are planning to hold a court during
the meal and during this event.
