The Canton of Aire Faucon Presents
Flight of the Falcon: Heroics for Newcomers
August 27, 2005
At Camp Golden Valley
164 Girl Scout Camp Rd., Bostic, NC 28018

The Canton of Aire Faucon in the Barony of the Sacred Stone will be hosting
an event to welcome newcomers to the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA)
in Western North Carolina near Rutherfordton on August 27. All interested
members and friends of the SCA are encouraged to come and bring along a
friend.

Camp Golden Valley is located in the Appalachian Foothills, near
Rutherfordton, NC and features beautiful views, hiking trails, luscious
lawns for tourneys and air-conditioned halls for relaxing. Since this is
the weekend following the end of the Great Pennsic War in Western
Pennsylvania, we will be expecting to hear great tales of courage and valor
throughout the day from returning warriors and their campmates.

Planned Activities include:
Heavy Fighting Bear Pit Tourney and Fencing Contests with 2 prizes each,
awarded for:
-	accumulated points
-	crowd pleasing displays of chivalry, honor, and prowess, as judged by the
Populace. Newcomers are especially encouraged to voice their support and
appreciation.
(There will be additional opportunities for fighting throughout the
afternoon.)
Archery Shoot, both a Scored Competition for SCA participants, and informal
target shooting for guests.
Swashbuckling Obstacle Course open to all interested participants, including
children.

Arts and Sciences (A&S) activities will be focused on a display of medieval
items and works of art designed and constructed by members and other SCA
folk. There will also be a series of informal classes and demonstrations
designed to meet the specific interests of attendees. All local SCA gentles
who would like to offer their experience and skill for these classes are
invited to contact Lady Maeve Griffinsward (gryphon at carolina.rr.com).

Dinner will be a Medieval Feast prepared by Lady Keena Agantyr
(varsitysoftball at earthlink.com). If you have allergy or other dietary
concerns, or any questions, please contact her. Please bring your own place
setting and a beverage. This is a dry site, no alcohol allowed.
