So far as I know -- and have NOT actually read the new regs --
this affects places that have cattle (goats, buffalo, mammals) and get milk
from them, and then sell or give away the milk or dairy products derived
from it.
The regs impose requirements as to how the milk/dairy product is
stored and handled, and I think on how the anaimal are treated. Some
people think those standards are far too strict, and will drive small
operations out of business. It wouldn't suprise me to learn that the
complaints are accurate, but I don't know eneough to judge.
I don't THINK that any of this will affect Society events. It
would do so if any of our cooks rely on milk/cream/butter/cheese that comes
from small operations, and MIGHT do so if there's widespread use of
unpasteurized products.
