Greetings to everyone who has been posting and following this thread for the last few months!
Heres a couple of observations:
1st, I have been to the post office; repeatedly. I have been told in no uncertain terms by the post office that they do not have a problem, and that the deliveries of the Acorn are entirely the fault of when it is getting mailed. In other words, knowing that the Acorn is mailed in plenty of time to arrive kingdom wide by the first of the month- the post office has no clue , and aren't about to try to solve the problem.
2nd, I have sent e-mails to the Postmaster General- and haven't even gotten a reply. Even at national level, the post office simply does not, and will not give a hoot whether they deliver in a timely fashion or not. Talking to the government about a single little newsletter is not going to help!
The staff of the Acorn should be commended for what they do. Each person involved does a job well done, that I personally wouldn't do myself. I want everyone that is involved in the production of the newletter to know that I for one appreciate them and their hard work.
The real answer to this situation lies upon the internet. E-mail is virtually instantaneous, and would serve each and every one of us better that the USPS. It is also very viable to take the complete Acorn and have it on a web-site, with membership or not. I feel that it is ridiculous to have anything that is a better and easier way to do things, and to be prohibited from using it.
I think that at this point, we (the ones having difficulty with recieving the Acorn) should be trying to change the policies prohibiting us from being able to recieve the Acorn on-line. I fail to understand what the problem is with doing this.... I can't see how having the newsletter published publicly is any detriment to the Kingdom or the Society. Now that most everything has gone to not being pay-to-play, I can't even see that a newsletter is going to make any real difference on paid memberships. If that's the problem, make the website for the Acorn username and password protected, or e-mail it only to paid members- either way, then the problem is solved.
It's just my two cents worth, but we all pay to have a say in what goes on with our memberships and the society. This is a good opportunity to change an out of date policy for the better.
In service,
Gavius Allectus
