Hi all, sorry for the interruption. I am writing a paper for my class Women & Leisure. The subject is on Female Medieval Reenactors and Leisure. Since there has been next to nothing written on this, I am allowed to canvass on line for interviews. I would very much appreciate if the ladies could take some time in the next day or two and respond to my short questionnaire. Feel free to write as much as you want. Also, feel free to forward this to any other lists that you are on...the more responses, the better. Thanks!

Now for the questions....

How long have you been doing reenacting?

What about reenactment makes it an attractive leisure choice for you?

Would activities that you define as leisure within reenactment have been considered leisure in period?

Do you participate in any activities while "reenacting" that would have been gender specific, historically? If so, what?

Do you participate in any activities while "reenacting" that would've been closed to you because of gender, historically? If so, what?

Do you have any medieval role models who you are trying to emulate through your portrayal?

Historically, women have been perceived as "the weaker sex". For the time period for which you try to represent, do you beleive this to be so?

Do you experience any bias or friction from male reenactors? (I'm not talking politics; I'm speaking solely gender based interaction)

Do you feel that male reenactors perceive female reenactors as the weaker sex?

Is there anything else you want to say about reenactment as your leisure activity that I haven't asked?

Now for the stats. Please tell me a little about yourself. Your education level, marital status, number of children if any, age and occupation would be great, but only submit what you are comfortable with. No personal information will be posted about specific people. Also, please tell me of your persona/portrayal.

Thank you ladies, for your time; it is greatly appreciated.

Please email response back to my email address ringlancer at comcast dot net.
