Here is an early alert to garb-makers in the Kingdoms of Atlantia and nearby kingdoms:
The East meets West Gorgeous Garb Contest: If you have a dream of making a gorgeous set of garb to enter in an A&S contest, now is your chance--jewels, lace, silk, brocades, embroidered woolens, damask, feathered hats, modest veils--anything you can document for the 14th to the 16th centuries! This contest will award two prizes--one to the maker of the most fabulous period-based set of garb as would be worn by a European personage meeting a Japanese court personage; the other to the maker of the most fabulous period-based set of garb as would be worn by a Japanese personage meeting a European visitor to the Japanese court. Front and back photos of someone wearing the garb encouraged. Documentation required. All garb to be worn during evening court for the edification and adornment of "Treachery on the Tokaido" [a.k.a. T&T], an event to be held Saturday, October 29, 2005, in the firehall of Hampstead, Maryland, in the Barony of Bright Hills. Contest sponsored by Ingeborg i

Silk & More, a contest at T&T. Whether a beginner at period crafts or an expert, this contest is for you. Any item that is all silk or part-silk may be entered...silk floss embroideries; a carved wooden box lined with silk, Japanese silk cords, clothing or accessories, toys, anything in any SCA period is acceptable as long as some part of it uses silk.
