Gentle cousins!
Last month's floods hit western North Carolina pretty hard. US Hwy 276 leading to the Crown Tourney site was one of the roads affected by the flooding and I wanted to give people a heads up about a detour that will probably still be in place.
If you are traveling FROM Canton on Hwy 276, you will hit a detour at Old Michael Road. The bridge on 276 is out just beyond that and barriers are up. The road signs will direct you to turn left onto Old Michael Road, which is about a 3/4 of a mile semi-circle around the damaged area. When you get back to 276, just turn left (although you really have no other choice) and keep on going.
If you are coming in after sundown, please be careful and take your time. You are traveling from the bottom of the mountain, to up near the top and the roads are winding, drop-offs are steep and it's very dark. We want everyone to arrive safe.
