Greetings to Their Majesties Atlantia, King Janos and
Queen Rachel,
I pray this missive finds you well and safely home
following your travels from University. However, I
find I must inform you of recent activities from our
former allies to the north. Please forgive the
tardiness in my posting of this, but I know that the
eyes of the East may see this missive and I wanted to
make sure it was pure and accurate.
Believing the East to still hold to our past
friendship, a small contingent of loyal Atlantians and
I traveled to the border to investigate the rumors of
upcoming activities. Two Loyal Free Scholars
had informed us of these treacherous plans. I believe
that Stephen and Constanza had first heard wind of the
northern treachery and called upon the rest of us to
assist them in finding out the facts. Upon our
arrival, we were met with hostility in the form of
open arms, and much food and drink. Knowing this to
be trickery, we chose to lull them into a false sense
of security, in the hopes of discovering their true
motives.
Alas, our suspicions proved true as later that
afternoon, after plying us with good food, liquid
refreshment, and conversation, the Easterners, a group
called the Tadcaster Militia, took us to the field.
I am sure they hoped that their bribes would make us
comfortable, leading us to share information and
tactics with them. They were sorely mistaken. Led by
Don Ian and Don Duncan "The Co-Agitator," their
attempts to thwart our reconnaissance mission failed.
Even with the apt skills of their "Cruise Director"
Lady Katrine Lyndesay we did all that we could to keep
the invading East army at bay. Don Duncan did
say at one point that he believed this village of
Delaware to be part of Atlantia, so perhaps the East
is willing to negotiate and give us more land for your
rule.
We fought various skirmishes throughout the day, with
much glory and honor on both sides of the field.
While we took them to task early, they were later
aided by an Ansteorran scoundrel with questionable
allegiances, by the name of Don Pieter. However, his
assistance came too late to prevent the Eastern force
from being thrashed by our lesser numbers, but
superior tactical skill.
We held off their advances in several instances,
including battles which pitted our Atlantian Forces
against their Eastern troops, our Scholars against
theirs, our Free Scholars (3) against their cadets (4)
(those that were cadeted to the local dons) and the
White Scarves (which did bring Pieter to side with
Connor) against their OGRs (Kitty Kabobs). In
addition, a group of 5 Atlantians held the field
against all comers, several of whom had larger groups,
for several rounds of both a bear-pit style and grand
melee battle.
Knowing that war is imminent, I do think that it would
be advantageous to call upon all rapier forces in
Atlantia to send back this threat. The East has
claimed that they can outcrazy us, but I understand
that Connor "Taller than a Natalian Smurf" is taking
charge of the Rapier forces in your stead. This being
the case I'm sure that our side will surely win the
day as we will indeed have more fun than should be
allowed on the field. In an effort to perhaps rebuild
the bridge of friendship to the East we will make it
our duty to make sure that they have as much fun as
possible as we understand this to be your truest
wishes.
Our group of scouts was led by Stephen Bridewell and
Connor Levingstoune, and included Constanza de
Talavera, Donovan Morgan, Geoffrey ap Clywd, Seamus
OMaoiliriain, Kenji (the Ginsu knife of the
East), Ihsan (of the Great Sands) , Bill of Bright
Hills, and myself.
