Subject:  RIP Duke Gyrth Oldcastle of Ravenspur

In case this is the first anyone here has heard...

On Friday, 12 November, Duke Gyrth Oldcastle of Ravenspur, KSCA, OL,
OP, passed from this life due to an apparent heart attack. Gyrth had
been ill for most of the year -- had his right leg amputated (in
stages no less).

Gyrth was King of the East once and King of Atlantia once. He was a
former Brigantia Principal Herald of the East, and at the time of his
death was Conch Herald for Atlantia (consultant on court heraldry).
His style as a court herald was something many of us have striven to
emulate.

We laid him to rest on Wednesday the 17th. We are the less for his
absence, but only because we were so much the greater for having him.
