Lady Scott's Quilting Square A & S Competition --
Open to Adults, Youth and Children
This will be a quilting square competition for all ages. Submissions will be assembled as a finished, quilted wall hanging and presented as a gift. IMPORTANT: This means the pieces submitted for competion WILL NOT be returned to the entrants. But, it also means that the square AND its documentation may be mailed for inclusion in the competition, even for non-attendees.
THEME: Spike -- This will be an Atlantia quilt with all square depicting "Spike" in some form. Artist renderings of all periods and styles are encouraged.
Guidelines:
1. Competition is open to everyone.
2. Quilt square must yield an 8" square with 1" seams. This means the working piece must be 10"x10". When the seams are ironed inward, it will yield the 8" square. "Squares" may can consist of multiple squares, triangles or other shapes sewn into an 8" square.
3. Base square should be a shade of white. This means ecru, ivory and white are all acceptable.
4. Chosen fabric should be preshrunk before cut and sewn. Recommended fabrics are muslin, linen, felt, burlap, un-finished silk, satin, velvet, etc.
5. Qualifying squares should be embelished with "Spike", in some form or fashion.
6. For Youth entries, verbal parental guidance is permitted; however, parents are on their honour NOT to do the work.
7. Documentation is required.
Suggestion: For younger children, parents may draw "unobtrusive" guidelines on the fabric for children to follow with their needles.
Graciously,
Lady Scott
