Good Ladies and Fine Lords,
This email is sent with much anticipation and an eagerness for the event
to get here. I wanted to give some updates on the feast for the
Upcoming event on November 19-21st.
First off, any allergy concerns please feel free to email me at
kattratt at charter.net
Secondly, I am going to give away some of the menu here but that is for
a "heads up" reason only. The menu with a few minor exceptions is still
on the website for Feast of Unicorn.

The most important update!!!!! Please be aware that we are serving a
soup. Bring a bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pass the word on this I beg
you... Heck bring extras for folks that don't get the information ahead
of time. I can't name the number of times that I have seen a soup
served and folks have to scramble to figure out how to eat it as they do
not have a bowl. Thus I warning all of you and asking you to tell others.
We are serving Shrimp and Crab during the first course. Anyone with
allergy concerns, let me assure you that both dishes are being prepared
off site, anyone handling the dishes will be immediately sanitizing
their hands (Other than the servers that person will be ME.) The
shellfish will come out last. (The reasoning for this is so that
allergy concerns can be avoided, ie your fellow feasters not dipping
their hands into shellfish and then the veggies, etc. ) NOW Should you
have any issues with shellfish please let your server know and we will
get sanitizer for the table. Other solutions include asking the others
at your table to let you get your foods first to avoid problems. Or you
can talk to me personally and I will plate your food somehow... (This
will need to be an extreme case ok? )
Ok allergies aside....
For those of you thinking hmmm serving shellfish? Oh it must be
imitation crab.... NOPE we are serving honest to God, in the shell crab.
Before anyone pitches a hissy let me assure you that Nary a nimble
finger will have to struggle with said shellfish... I just finished
cutting all of the shells and cracking the claws. So please enjoy.
(And for anyone who knows me I must admit that the particular task I am
talking about was indeed pure torture.... for I didn't even lick my
fingers...Nope not one bite!!!) ((I think my reward will be to cook
about 12 pounds of crab legs 4 weeks after Unicorn and pig out....)) ;)
For those vegetarians in the area... let me assure you that if it is NOT
a MEAT Dish then it is vegetarian safe. Yep I just checked... all meat
dishes are even being served seperately. Now I will reserve the right
as cook to make non vegetarian friendly rice... but if I do I will let
you know during the feast.... Trust me you will know!!!!!!! But
everything else will be safe. I just looked and we have Nine Vegetarian
safe dishes with me reserving the right to drop that to eight...
For their Majesties.... Yes we do have plenty of MEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I
have kept in mind your preferences but have also remembered to consider
your subjects.... Should you have the desire to chase down any of your
subjects that eat said veggies for a meal on the run then that is your
business.
Finally the following chages have been made to the menu for those who
have seen it... with appologies to Her Excellency for the first one.
The Candied mint leaves are off. Sorry but mint is not in season.
The Sugared Grapes and figs are not being served in the second
course.... (the sugared grapes are gone from our menu but the figs we
moved to a different course.)
Last but not least, I am looking for servers. Please contact me off
list to let me know if you want to be a part of the magic of this Feast.
Thank You all for your time.
Lord Nichola
Head Cook for Feast of Unicorn.
PS NO I am NOT serving Unicorn.....
