One thing I really like doing for schools, cub scouts etc.  If its a small class or you can get a roster before hand, Look up the nationality, origins and meanings of last names and sometimes first names.  The kids and parents love this info and its always fun. I usually try to just keep notes on the ones I can't remember so it looks like its coming from the top of your head, a stump the herald game. Then I can give them the speach about "family" coats of arms.
