I did a few demos at Fairfax County (In VA for those not up north) with
weapons. The school principal has to give permission to bring them in. The
way we did it was to keep the weapons behind the tables in front of us so
the children could not touch them even if they rushed the table for some
reason. Also all the sharps remained sheathed, including pollarms, until I
showed them.
I took a full 1450 Italian export harness in for a demo and several top end
swords and pollarms from Lutel, Arms and Armor (US), and Albion arms and the
kids went nuts over that. The armor is a combo of Mac and Hedgecock armor
and is a perfect looking replica with the proper armet. Some people think
kids can't tell the difference in quality of arms and armor but they are
wrong, these kids could tell this was like museum quality.

Not to worry, good gentles.
The law generally prohibits having anything bigger than a
pocketknife
at a public OR private school, EXCEPT under some circumstances, such as
being in SCA garb by invitation.
Excerpt from Code of Virginia (note ellipses):
"§ 18.2-308.1. Possession of firearm, stun weapon, or other weapon on
school property prohibited.
A. If any person possesses any . . . knife, except a pocket knife having
a folding metal blade of less than three inches . . . upon (a) the property
of any public, private or parochial elementary, middle or high school,
including buildings and grounds, (b) that portion of any property open to
the public used for school-sponsored functions or extracurricular activities
while such functions or activities are taking place, or (c) any school bus
owned or operated by any such school, he shall be guilty of a Class 1
misdemeanor.
" . . . The provisions of this section shall not apply to (i) persons who
possess such weapon or weapons as a part of the school's curriculum or
activities, . . . (iii) persons who possess such weapon or weapons as a
part of any program sponsored or facilitated by either the school or any
organization authorized by the school to conduct its programs either on
or off the school premises . . . . "
