BATTLE FOR GULL Y BRANCH DEMO - JULY 3rd

Canton of Misty March by the Sea - Florence, SC

Citizens of Atlantia, we have need of thee! We are being invaded by hordes of mundane and we need your fighters, performers, and your artisans to entertain them.

The Canton of Misty Marsh is helping the City of Florence with its "Spirit of Florence", a July 4th celebration and is an advertised main attraction. The crowds are expected to reach into the thousands!

MARTIAL ACTIVITIES: A full day of fighting! Single and team combat! Heavy and light weapons! All culminating with a Grand Melee' to center stage the celebration. The assembled masses will be able to toss "Greek Fire" (tennis balls with streamers) at the fighters during the Grand 45-minute Resurrection Castle Siege/Bridge Battle! Please contact the Marshal or Autocrat so that we can get an estimate of how many fighters will be in attendance.

ARTS AND SCIENCES: If you have something to share - bring it! We will have space to display your work. For anyone wishing to perform or demonstrate a skill we can make space. Contact the Autocrat to schedule a time and space. Electricity is available. Small torches for lamp working and pewter casting are OK.

THE SITE: Timrod Park, Florence SC. The site opens at 9a.m. with armor inspection at 10:30. The event is scheduled to run until 5pm and the park closes at dark. An array of food vendors will be on site with FREE Pepsi products throughout the day! Set up of pavilions is permitted on Friday night but no camping is allowed in the park. Police will be present. A baseball game (with free admission for us) will finish off the night with a HUGE twenty minute fireworks display afterwards.

COST: ABSOLUTELY 100% FREE

RESTRICTIONS: Site is dry. No live steel (except for WELL SUPERVISED displays), no fires. Animals must be on a leash or crated. There are a few grills and plenty of food vendors.

Directions: Take your best route to 1-95, Florence. Take exit 160 east into Florence (David McLeod Blvd). At the 6th light, turn left at the T-intersection onto Palmetto St (Hwy. 76,) directly in front of McDonald's. At the next light (Five Points - major intersection), take a "soft" right onto Cherokee (directly beside Sav-way.) Proceed until you come to the second light at Park Avenue. Pull into the First Presbyterian Church and we will stage into the park from there. Look for SCA signs once you are on Cherokee. Personnel will be on hand to assist you.
