Many of you will not know this person, but I want to take a few minutes
to sing his praises. Alex Shumpert (Randel Arrowsmith) was one of the
first people I knew when I joined Nottinghill Coill almost 19 years ago- He
and Ginger Mc Guinness (Lady Gillian Clayshaper) were very much into
promoting combat archery in Cyddlain Downs, and this got my attention. Alex made
me my first cross-bow and designed the bolts, with Ginger. These became, with
future modifications, a standard for the crossbow. for a long time.
They also designed the golf-tube arrows that were used for several years by
combat archers-till the "modern age" of combat archery. When I was on
the throne, we all lobbied and fought together to get combat archery
recognized as a viable weapon in war..
15 years ago this week he married our cousin, Candace Case (Candace
Horsetrader). Candace tried to get Atlantia interested in using the
horse-so long ago, and she was very much into the study of medieval animals.
Alex and Candace have not been active, in the Society, for quite a
while due to health concerns for both of them. This last week Alex's health went
downhill rapidly due to complications from dialysis. They have now
taken him off life support. Time is now friend and foe.
Dulcinea will you please get in touch with me-I am looking for contact
information on Shawn and Erin McGuinness.
Please forward this message to the Merry Rose and to the Medieval
Animal Group (society wide). Many Thanks-I am not on either list.
Grafin Judith
