Greetings everyone. Hope all are in good spirits.
My name is Rodrigo Santiago DeVega. I've been a member for about a year now. Been slowly getting involved within the SCA, mainly due to mundane priorities. Like working 20hrs over the weekends. Yes, its a dampener.
But, our (my lady Kieran and I) first plunge was at Storviks Barional Birthday. A day trip. Our first major event was... Pennsic. Where Kieran fought alongside Lord Cuan, had a great "no-s**t-there-I-was" story during the Woods Battle with Abel and I've learned to become a great listener as well as getting quite handy with a camera. ;)
We've picked up a few skills already. Sewing being the number on thing. Learning about some very interesting tid-bits about history that we've never even realized before. We're itching to learn a few more. We are getting involved with our Baronial brewing guild, meeting a whole slue of interesting and friendly people...and found this place, a well-spring of useful information.
On the martial side, we are learning to fight with the spear. We are trying to find as much info. on training as possible. To that end we are trying to contact those that are experienced with fighting with spears. We've already have recieved info on how to hold the spear, and how to practice hitting a pell. Little else. We want to see if there is info out there like there is for sword and shield. On technique, how to hold the spear in varies combat situations, fighting alongside a shield, what to do/look-out for when alone. Understand we've been only at this for about a month or so, and itching to learn more.
The Queen's Spears, what is this unit? We've only heard of this unit a little while ago,(which lead me to the Merry Rose) and we were wondering what they do, do they have a routine practice night, etc. And if we can pick there collective brain.
I look forward to reading and posting again on all types of topics!

On behalf of Kieran and myself,

             Thank you
