Before I delete my folder of some 200 emails on KASF and put it behind us
for another year, I'd like to take a few moments of your time for a few
notes.
First and foremost: the winners of the Pentathlon/Triathlon. The winner of
the Triathlon was Amanda. We had a tie for the Pentathlon between Katherine
Maunsel and Genevieve d'Aquitaine. Congratulations, ladies, and WELL DONE.
I wish to thank the head judges. Mistress Aenor, Mistress Clare Hele,
Mistress Fu'il, and Mistress Margret made all the judging possible. THANK
YOU. Also, many thanks go to Ladies Celia and Cassandra who helped me with
the check in and all the paperwork. Countess Adelicia, besides working
hard to give us space for the competition, also supplied us with several
people to assist in set up and managing paper. Alas, all their names have
now escaped my mind, but they were wonderful and it was a relief to have
their assistance.
The Pentathlon had 17 entrants, and the Triathlon had 4. There were some
VERY impressive items shown, and it was an awesome display of talent.
Congratulations to you all. This also means that we had nearly 100
separate items to study and assess. Our judges did an amazing job of
splitting up the effort and evaluating each piece. Thanks to all of you who
helped!
In my thanks, I don't want to leave out the Order of the Laurel, who
sponsored this competition. Did you check out the prize baskets? All the
items were put in their by our members, with cool stuff including gift
certificates for books and fabric, books, silk threads, and a hand-woven
towel.
For those who entered the competition, I know our judges worked hard to give
you fair assessments and helpful comments - but I also noticed that not all
sheets had comments written. Please don't hesitate to contact the judge if
you have some questions or want more information. I'm willing to bet they
would all welcome a dialog, rather than a fast sheet of notes!
Finally, if anyone has any feedback or suggestions you would be willing to
share on either the judging or forms, please feel free to contact me
privately. I already know some improvements we should make, but I welcome
additional suggestions.
Best wishes,
Anne of Carthew
Principal of the Order of the Laurel
