Greetings!
I am currently considering a couple different MFA programs in poetry so that
I can learn how to write period poetry while still retaining my own voice.
Since I know there are a lot of my fellow SCAdians out there with advanced
degrees in languages & such, I was wondering if anyone knew about or has
participated in the low residency MFA poetry programs specifically at Warren
Wilson College in Asheville, NC or New England College in Henniker, NH?
Just a little background on me: I'm a professional tech writer. I've already
got an MA in Writing from Johns Hopkins but I took Science Writing, which
doesn't help in the poetry area. I've also published fiction, but that too
does not help. Poetry is a horse of a different color. So what I'm really
after is some very specific training in poetry forms, word choice & style.
I'd greatly appreciate talking to anyone who might have even just a smidge
of information about either of the programs beyond what's available on their
websites. I'm hoping to apply in the next few weeks so that I could start a
program in the summer when my work schedule slows down a bit.
Please contact me off-list. Thanks!
Aimee
