[MR] sca as tax deduction?

Hello all! I was talking with my accountant about tax deductions. Now I have a few questions that maybe somebody here can answer. Before anybody decides to tell me to go to SCA.org and check the often asked questions link I did try that several times and couldn't access it.
Do any of you use the SCA as a tax deduction? I have been told that the SCA is a non-profit teaching organization. Is that true? If that is true is there any way to get literature to support that? (Just in case I ever get audited!)
If you make a donation how hard is it to get a letter stating that for the accountant? Should the letter come from your Canton, Barony, Kingdom, Society? If so what is the procedure for that? My accountant also says that if I buy candles for the event, have a receipt and was not re-imbursed then that should be deductible too. Anything over $250.00 a year.
Does anybody out there have any experience with this? I'd sure like to hear from you if you do!
