My apologies to those who get this multiple times.

Greetings to one and all from Master Fritz; autocrat
for Sapphire Joust V.
The pre-registration deadline for the biggest event of
the year is fast approaching and once again, I am
encouraging you all to go to the Sapphire Joust
website at http://geocities.com/sapphirejoust and
download the pre-registration form and mail it in as
soon as possible. There have also been updates made to
the Sapphire website, so please check into it to see
what is new.
As was said in the last missive to the populace, there
will be a great deal of fighting, and this year, the
Sapphire tournaments will be slightly different from
previous years.
Since their inception, the Gem Joust tourneys have had
as their focus the Art of Chivalry. Traditionally we
have had a panel of judges view the Tourney and award
a single prize to the most Chivalrous Fighter on the
list that day. Sometimes though, one just isn’t
enough.
This year, we will be selecting 30 combatants from
Saturday’s Heavy Lists. They will be chosen, based on
all the aspects of the Chivalric way of life. “Le
Ordene de Chevalrie”, The Ordination of Knighthood, a
12th or 13th century anonymous French poem, shows us
that a knight is expected to display faith, courtesy,
honesty, humility, purity, “right” and loyalty. While
it is understood that all combatants are striving to
adhere to these tenets, each of the aspects will be
studied by our many tourney viewers. Individuals will
be recognized in EACH of the categories, and will be
announced during Saturday evening court. ALL fighters
are encouraged to attend evening Court where His
Excellency of Caer Mear will announce the names of all
the combatants for the Sunday list. The remaining 2
positions belong to The King and The Prince. The
Sunday list shall be held as a 32 person Round Robin
of 4 lists of 8. All combatants will fight 7 rounds
with a single winner advancing from each of the 4
lists. Those 4 winners will come together and a
Champion will be determined.
The schedule for marshal activities for the entire
weekend is as follows:

With all that being said, we will need a lot of
volunteers to help with marshalling duties, MOLs to
help support our event MOLs as well as waterbearers.
If you are able to help out, please do so.
Keep an eye on the website for updates and feel free
to email any questions you may have to
sapphirejoust at yahoo.com.

Master Fritz
