Good evening and welcome.
The Queen's Spears is a group of Rapier fighters who have, at the Queen's
Request, agreed to form a unit of spearmen for the Bridge Battle at
Pennsic. It has been formed at previous Pennsics, and is being resurrected
this year.
The theory being that since spear and rapier are relatively similar in that
they are primarily all about thrusting and point control, excellence in
Rapier should translate into excellence with a Spear as well.
Since all (at least the vast majority) of Rapier fighters fight for the
Queen's Honor upon their field, when she made that request, many of us were
honored to take up heavier arms and serve Atlantia in this way. We come
from all over the Kingdom, so weekly practices and the like are
difficult. Most of us are learning at our local practices, or those events
we can gather at, with intents to muster at selected events through the
Kingdom to practice and learn as a unit.
Our first muster was at the recent War College, and there will be a few
others between now and August. We are not necessarily the Masters of the
Spear, many of us, in fact, are but mere students, however, whatever any of
us learn I daresay we would be willing to teach.
I understand also that the Company of St. Aiden will be hosting many Spear
classes over this spring and summer season, at the request of his
Highness. Stay tuned.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
